NCTSN Trauma-Informed Organizational Assessment (TIOA)
The NCTSN Trauma-Informed Organizational Assessment (TIOA) is a validated assessment developed by the UCLA-Duke University National Center for Child Traumatic Stress (NCCTS) to help child- and family-serving organizations measure and strengthen their trauma-informed practices. Grounded in expertise from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN), the assessment consists of 87 items across nine domains, providing a comprehensive evaluation of organizational trauma-informed practices. Designed within an implementation framework, the TIOA supports meaningful systems change by identifying strengths, highlighting areas for growth, and integrating trauma-informed principles. By implementing the NCTSN TIOA, organizations can establish a shared language around trauma-informed care, create a roadmap for change, identify ways to support staff, and enhance services for children and families impacted by trauma.
